Worldwide Project:
In 1994, Kiwanis International made a promise to the world's children: Kiwanis and its Kiwanis family is raising $75 million to virtually eliminate the world's most prevalent, preventable cause of mental retardation, iodine deficiency disorders (IDD). The successful completion of this mission will rank as one of mankind's greatest health-related achievements. More than 1.5 billion children and adults will be saved from disorders that include stillbirths, cretinism, and goiter, as well as diminished academic performance and productivity.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reports the Kiwanis family helped save more than 8 million children from being born with iodine deficiency disorders and mental retardation in 1999.

Young Children: Priority One:
This ongoing service program of Kiwanis International and the Northside Naples Kiwanis Club addresses the needs of children prenatal through age five.

Christmas in Immokalee:
This tremendous undertaking that involves months of planning and coordinating is the flagship project of our club. Each year on Christmas Day a multitude of volunteers arrive in Immokalee to provide a Christmas meal for over 3,500 people, distribute much needed blankets and bring in Santa Claus to distribute gifts and toys to hundreds of children.

Habitat for Humanity:
Our club not only participates in the usual supplying of volunteers to help build these homes, but made a major contribution to Habitat for Humanity which resulted in the purchase of a building site in the name of Northside Naples Kiwanis.

Thanks to the initiative by our club, a joint effort by the Kiwanis clubs in our division will result in a Kiwanis Park developed at the Habitat for Humanity site. (www.habitatforhumanity.com)

Collier Harvest:
iwanis members and Key Club volunteers will be sorting and boxing canned goods from the Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive.  The letter carriers pick up non-perishable food that you put out at your mailbox during that week and take it to a central receiving area.  It is then sorted and boxed by volunteers and distributed by Collier harvest.  Last year we collected and distributed over 200,000 pounds of food just from the Letter Carrier Food Drive.

Collier Harvest has delivered millions of pounds of food to over 60 local social service agencies that serve the needy of Collier County, Florida.  Their volunteers regularly pick up day old bread, etc, from our supermarkets and distribute it to local social service agencies.

Please plan to volunteer to be a part of this wonderful project and help the less fortunate of Collier County.
